Description

An English description of the definition (what distinguishes this sense of the term?).

A Rail Line is a type of Infrastructure Element. It describes a part of the physical transportation infrastructure that has been fitted with tracks in order to allow travel by trains and other sorts of rail vehicles. No distinction is made between types of rail at this level. A Rail Line is identified as such by some governing body. It has some location and name. It may be decomposed into parts as Rail Line Segments.
